Biblical Positions
Doctrinal Positions:
We believe the following to be essential Doctrines of the Christian Faith; the inspiration of the Scriptures; the Virgin Birth of Jesus Christ; the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ; the Vicarious Death of Jesus Christ; the Bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ; and the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Versions Of The Scriptures:
Due to the highly interpretive and often prejudicial nature of some existing versions, translations, and paraphrases of the Scriptures, care must be exercised when making selections for public ministries. Because of this, the King James Version will be utilized in the preaching or teaching ministries at Tri-State Bible Camp & Conference Center. This will enable us to provide unity of purpose and program to the ministry at TSBC.
Ecclesiastical Separation:We believe the doctrine of separation is rooted in the holiness of our God and His instruction for us to be holy (1 Peter 1:15,16). The doctrine of separation is understood both as from the world (1 John 2:15-17), unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:11-7:1), and from brethren that compromise the truth of God's Word (Romans 16:17,18; 2 Thessalonians 3:6,14,15).
We therefore shall not knowingly cooperate with nor join in ministry affiliation with organizations or individuals that do not hold to the fundamentals of the faith as set forth in the Word of God, or that refuse to separate themselves from unbelievers, the world and disobedient brethren.
Music:
The following guidelines should be followed by all ministering in music at Tri-State. Song texts must be in accord with sound Biblical doctrine and should effectively communicate definite Biblical truths to believers, or give an effective invitation to the unsaved. Songs which emphasize humanistic philosophy, social gospel, or any other unbiblical teachings are definitely unacceptable. Songs which are closely associated with the charismatic movement are not permitted. Music should appeal to the spirit rather than to the flesh, and should be uplifting more than entertaining. Since music itself, apart from any words, communicates an emotional message and has meaning itself, it should be of such character as to lift our hearts and mind toward the things of God. Melody should be the principle element (Ephesians 5:19), and the beat should be subordinate. Acceptable music should not be patterned after that of the world (Romans 12:1-2). Therefore, any music which is an obvious imitation of worldly music is to be considered a distraction from the message of the words, and is unacceptable, no matter how fine the words may be. Musicians are to avoid vocal or instrumental techniques particularly associated with this type of music.
The Charismatic Movement:We believe that God is sovereign in the bestowment of all His gifts; and, that the gifts of evangelists, pastors and teachers are sufficient for the perfecting of the saints today; and, that speaking in tongues and the working of sign miracles gradually ceased as the New Testament Scriptures were completed. We believe that the Bible is sufficient alone without any supernatural sign gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4‑11; 2 Corinthians 12:12; Ephesians 4:7-12).
